Video To Go with SanDisk's TakeTV and Fanfare
The Story
SandDisk, the world leader in producing flash memory, saw an opportunity to enter the burgeoning market of moving downloaded content from the PC to the TV. They created TakeTV, a USB flash drive with video output capabilities, which users load with content on their PC and then connect directly to their television. With the hardware developed, SanDisk needed the other components of the system, ranging from desktop software and drivers to the video transcoding and delivery service.
To differentiate the TakeTV device in a crowded marketplace, Schematic conceived of Fanfare, a content delivery ecosystem that allows users to easily &emdash; and legally &emdash; add premium content to their TakeTV devices. A standalone PC application featuring an intuitive navigation scheme. Fanfare lets users preview content from the Web and add to their device in one easy interaction. Simple and easy, the TakeTV device and Fanfare service was met with praise from the press including positive reviews from the Wall Street Journal, CNet and Gizmodo.
